About the Breed
The Blue Lacy is strong and fast and has a smooth, sleek coat. Adults are 18 – 25 inches at the shoulder and weigh 25 – 50 pounds. The Blue Lacy has a natural herding instinct which enables it to work everything from chickens to the toughest Texas Longhorn cattle.
The breed is known to be extremely intelligent and very easy to train. Blue Lacys also have the title of “Official State Dog Breed of Texas” as they are the only dog breed to have originated from the great state of Texas.
Meet Lusty
Lusty Crain, owner, has over 70 years experience with Blue Lacy dogs. A member of the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association, he has registered four generations of his puppies. Come visit the newest litter of puppies in Blessing, TX, about 1.5 hours southwest of Houston.
Stud Dogs
There are five stud dogs on the property ranging in color varieties. Though they are often called “Blue” Lacys, there are three permissible color varieties of the Lacy: “blue” (light silver to dark charcoal); “red” (light cream to rust); and “tri” (blue with red points). Their eyes are sharp and alert, ranging in color from bright yellow to rich amber.
